Lymington H & L Changing Rooms Consultation
Lymington H & L Changing Rooms Consultation
IT'S ALL CHANGE AT LYMINGTON HEALTH AND LEISURE CENTRE

This Summer, essential maintenance projects will be taking place at Lymington, one of which is the redesign of the wet side changing rooms.  As part of the Council's commitment to continuous improvement to our diverse range of customers, we aim to accommodate everyone with a village changing area.  This amenity will be built in the existing male and female wet changing rooms, corridor access and the toilets into the pool area.  There will still be facilities for separate male and female group change areas with their own showers, but will also provide a family change village comprising a mixture of family and single cubicles for couples, families and adults with children.  An accessible changing room will also be installed.

The plans for this project have been consulted on using members from the local New Forest Access For All group (pictured) and follows advice given from the similar project carried out at Applemore Health and Leisure Centre last year.

The project will start on 28 June 2010 and this 13 week project will be divided into two sections.  Phase 1 will see the changing facilities closed from 28 June to 18 July, during which time swimmers will be able to access the pool from alternative changing rooms.  Phase 2 sees swimming pool works being done that will take place from 19 July to 26 September which will encompass a full pool closure whilst essential renovations are carried out.  Although this project will take some considerable time, they are substantial works to improve the amenities cosmetically and structurally.

The Centre will provide a display in its reception area to give customers the most up to date information on progress of the project and the Lymington Health and Leisure Centre web pages will be regular updated.

If you have any thoughts or opinions on how the council provides its goods, services and facilities to people with disabilities please do not hesitate to contact us.  You can contact us either by emailing Sonia Masterman or call her on 023 8028 5491.
