COVID-19 SERVICE CHANGES: ADVICE FOR BUSINESS WASTE CUSTOMERS

  • You will have received your annual supply of green business waste sacks for general waste.
  • Bulk business waste customers should continue to present their general waste in green business waste sacks.
  • We are currently still providing a weekly collection, please present your waste as normal. If your waste is not collected check newforest.gov.uk/coronavirus for updates

Mixed Recycle / Mixed Glass Container Customers:

  • To ease the pressure on our crew we will be operating a request service for the emptying of these containers. Please contact buinesswaste@nfdc.gov.uk when your container is full and ready to be emptied.
  • Payment; If you have received an invoice, we are happy for you to defer your payment, no follow up action will be taken. A review of these invoices will be carried out when it is practical to do so.

Small business waste and recycling:

  • Our information offices have now closed, and we have suspended our delivery service. Small business waste customers should continue to present waste and recycling in the normal way, green sacks for waste, and clear business waste sacks for recycling.
  • If you have completely run out of either green or clear business waste sacks, then you can present your waste in any sack. Please bear in mind, if we cannot identify recyclable material in a clear sack it may be treated as general waste.

Coronavirus: We are following government advice and updates about any impact on our services will be added here as soon as possible: http://newforest.gov.uk/article/19348/Coronavirus-Information-about-council-services

Business waste collections

Reduce the environmental impact of your business and save money with New Forest District Council's business waste and recycling services.

Business waste is everything your business owns, uses or produces that you wish to dispose of, and includes

  • waste produced while working at private households
  • waste produced by contractors working at your business premises
  • any waste produced from home based business activities

Business rates do not cover the removal of business waste and every business,  no matter how large or small, has a duty of care under Section 34 of the Environment Protection Act 1990 to ensure their waste is collected, treated and disposed of by an authorised waste service provider.

How our business waste service works

We offer a weekly, fortnightly or monthly collection service of recyclable business waste and general non-recyclable business waste, in plastic sacks or larger containers, depending on the size of your business.

A flexible 'pay as you throw' service is available for smaller traders or those based in seasonal industries.

Recycling: we collect the following materials

  • paper and cardboard
  • tins, cans and aerosols
  • plastic bottles
  • mixed glass bottles and jars

Recycling material is collected in NFDC clear plastic sacks with red printing or in larger 1100 litre containers.

Sacks for business recycling can be purchased from any of our information offices.

Large amounts of cardboard or cardboard boxes, should be flattened, and tied securely in a bundle (not exceeding 7kg) with a white NFDC business waste recycling sticker attached.

Mixed glass bottles and jars are collected in 1100, 360, or 240 litre containers.

We do not collect business food waste or business garden waste for recycling.

General waste: Business waste that cannot be recycled is collected in green business waste sacks.

Sacks for general business waste can be purchased from any of our information offices.

We do not offer larger containers for general business waste, but if you wish to put your green business waste sacks into a traditional 80 litre dustbin with a lid, we will remove them. We cannot collect green business waste sacks from a wheeled bin.
