War Memorials

There are a number of War Memorials in the New Forest District, many are used in the annual remembrance day events.

Town and Parish Councils are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of war memorials.  If you wish to locate war memorials in your local area, please contact your local Town or Parish Council.

There are many dedicated web sites and organisations which research and provide information on War Memorials, these are listed below:

British Legion:  A charity providing care and advice to those who have, and those who still are serving in the Armed forces.

Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC):  Information on cemeteries and memorials at 23,000 locations, in 153 countries.

English Heritage:  Information on all English heritage sites and events. Also an important educational resource.

History UK:  British and world history - details of upcoming documentaries.

Imperial War Museum:  The Imperial War Museum has a dedicated project The National Inventory of War Memorials.

Roll of Honour:  In memory of those who died.  Listings of many war memorials in the UK and overseas.
