You didn't know you needed Building Regulations?

These are applications in respect of works that have been carried out without any other Building Regulation application having been made. They often come to light when a property is surveyed for prospective purchasers.

Such applications can only be accepted for building work undertaken since 1985. It is important to appreciate that you may be requested to expose critical areas of construction e.g.. foundations, in order for Building Control to ascertain compliance with Building Regulations.

The work as constructed should be submitted on a drawing with details provided as to how it will be altered, if necessary, to meet the Building Regulations in force at the time the work was done.

If the existing work is found to be satisfactory, or corrected to comply with Building Regulations, then a Regularisation Certificate will be issued.
