Self-Build and Custom Housebuilding Register

Introduction

The Council is obliged to keep a self-build and custom housebuilding Register covering the land within the District outside of the New Forest National Park.  The Register will provide valuable information on demand for such housebuilding in the area and will form a key element of the housing demand evidence base that will inform the Local Plan making process.

The Register

The Register contains details of individuals and association who have expressed an interest in inclusion.  It has to include contact details, the number of serviced plots sought, the date the entry was included and the date of any subsequent amendments.  Additional information can be required so as to support a greater understanding of the nature of demand but the failure to supply this information does not debar entry on the Register.

In order to allow for a greater understanding of demand in the planning area it covers New Forest District Council is asking in what area(s) people would like a plot, what size of plot in square metres is required, whether the applicant intends to do most of the building themselves, whether they would consider a plot on a large commercial housing development, whether they could only proceed if land is made available at a discount and whether they have any local connection to the area.

All information is held in confidence and at regular intervals those on it will be asked whether they wish their entry to be amended or maintained.
