Dear Customer

COVID-19 is presenting us all with unprecedented challenges, and I thought it appropriate to advise you how we are currently seeking to address these.

Firstly, we would like to reassure you that we are working hard to minimise the impact on all our customers, and the Building Control team will continue to operate a service as close to normal as possible, while following all the latest guidance. 

As a result of the government's announcement of measures to minimise the spread of COVID-19, it has been necessary to review our current inspection arrangements for works under construction. 

We operate a paperless service where possible, and therefore most of our team can work from home with very little impact on how we process applications, deal with plan checking and responding to technical queries. We are keeping up with registration of applications and issuing decisions as usual.  We will keep the situation under review and as the situation continues to evolve it is possible that tasks may take longer.

How can you help?

3.           Please continue to notify us of each inspection stage by sending an email to or calling 02380285245  so that we can risk assess each visit. We have introduced a revised risk-based approach to inspections, and enabling virtual inspections wherever possible.

These temporary arrangements will remain in place until such time that the Government advises us that normal business arrangements can resume.

The service may in due course be hit by further restrictions imposed by the government, or by increased levels of sickness, and we thank you for your support and understanding at this time.
