How are personal searches carried out?

Personal searches of the Land Charges Register can be booked by individuals or property agents using the personal search booking form. The form must be accompanied by a plan clearly marking the extent of the property concerned within a red line. Each search request is treated as a separate entity. No additional searches can be added into a booking once made and information on any surrounding land has to be the subject of a separate request. The form can be submitted by post or email and if any payment is required it must be paid when the documents are collected.

Each Agent can book up to five properties for any one day at one time. For inspection of the Local Land Charges Register two working days notice is required, five working days notice is required when Con29R information is requested and ten working days when other information is required.

Agents must include on the booking form their company name, telephone number, the address to be searched and indicate the questions required.

When a completed booking form is received a member of the Local Land Charge team will contact the Agent and advise as to the next available appointment.

All searches are dealt with in the order received and precedence will not be given to personal searches when this would delay the return of official searches.
