We are one of the largest non-unitary authorities in the United Kingdom, comprising of 300 square miles, 179,700 residents and 13.5 million visitors per year.

NFDC was established in 1974 and was formed through the combination of the old Lymington Borough, New Forest Rural District and most of the Ringwood and Fordingbridge Rural District. Our services include planning, development control, refuse collection and street cleaning, open spaces, coastal, housing, estates and valuation, environmental health, car parking, the operation of five health and leisure centres (at Applemore, Lymington, New Milton, Ringwood and Totton) and the local running of elections, as well as corporate services to support these such as Human Resources, Finance, Legal, Accountancy, Customer Services and Audit.

With beautiful beaches and historic forest land, Southampton and Bournemouth on our doorstep and great schools and colleges this is an excellent place to live too.
